Our Story
In the summer of 2012, Steve called his parents to tell them he was dropping out of Harvard to start Tarro. The decision left his immigrant parents deeply confused and worried, as they saw the stability and conventional success they wished for their son slipping away. However, for Steve, the path was clear.
It all started when 14-year-old Steve began working in his family's restaurant, handling everything from answering calls to making deliveries, and from managing employees to waitering. He witnessed firsthand the relentless grind of restaurant ownership and saw his parents missed precious family moments, consumed by their business. Yet, he also shared in his parents' joy when customers were happy and felt their pride as they worked toward the American Dream.
Tarro was born out of this firsthand understanding. Our mission is to build technology to help restaurants streamline their operations and grow their revenue, so they can focus on their passion and reclaim their time. Steve’s belief in this mission was so unshakeable that in 2021, he turned down a $200M buyout offer, choosing instead to double down on his commitment to serve the restaurant community.
Today, Tarro is a team of ambitious technologists and restaurant insiders united in our mission to transform the future of one of the most timeless industries.
