Frequently Asked Questions
Tarro handles phone answering, delivery, and marketing for 3,000+ restaurants. For 12+ years, we’ve handled millions of calls and thousands of deliveries every month.
Tarro answers your phone calls and processes orders as part of your paid service. Tarro does not charge for non-order calls (e.g. general inquiries, complaints, or reservations). You keep your existing phone numbers.
When a customer calls, the call forwards after one ring to a trained Tarro pizza specialist (a real person). They take the order, upsell high-margin items like drinks and appetizers, and typically lift average ticket size by 3–5%. Once the order is confirmed as pickup or delivery, Tarro sends the ticket to the printer setup that works best for your restaurant, whether that is a single printer or multiple kitchen stations. You’ll also have access to the Tarro app (on a tablet we provide, or from your phone) to view all your orders as well as analytics and reporting.
For pickup, the customer comes in and grabs their order. For delivery, you can use your own drivers or Tarro Delivery. If you use Tarro Delivery, we dispatch a driver to bring the food straight to the customer’s door.
Tarro calls are answered by real phone specialists, supported by an AI copilot. Every specialist completes a four-week Pizza Training Program, so your customers get fast, friendly service with 99.5%+ order accuracy on every call.
Tarro Delivery lets you use our driver network to deliver your orders, ensuring you get more orders and can reach more customers. You can use Tarro Delivery as much or as little as you want. Some shops use it to extend their delivery radius (up to 15 miles), some use it as backup for sick days or rushes, and others use it for all deliveries so they don’t have to manage drivers.
Tarro uses an on-demand driver network that pulls from DoorDash and Uber Eats. We automatically dispatch the driver who can complete the delivery the fastest.
Yes, customers can pay cash for delivery. Taking cash on delivery is optional. If you choose to accept it, Tarro tracks each cash delivery so you’re paid for every order, no risk to you of nonpayment.
Starting in month two, Tarro runs one free SMS campaign per month for your store (about $3,000 in annual value) to drive repeat orders. For each campaign, we work with you on the message and, when possible, tie it to a promo or special that fits your goals.
Setup is simple. We provide a call-routing device, thermal printer(s) to match your current setup, and a tablet with the Tarro app – all at no cost. You can also use the app on your phone.
We provide free thermal printers and install them where you need them. When an order comes in, it automatically prints to the correct station so your staff can make it like any other ticket. All orders are also visible in the Tarro app so you can monitor them even when you’re not in the store.
We don’t integrate with POS systems currently. We represent your menu in our system in a way that is optimized for how our specialists are trained to take orders.
When you use Tarro alongside your existing POS, your orders and payments will live in two systems, but with our reports you can reconcile between the two easily.
You can choose one of two workflows. Pick one and use it from day one.
Option 1: POS is the source of truth (full POS entry)
- Staff enters every Tarro order into the POS as an open item (about 10 seconds).
- All payments run through the POS. End of day, you use POS reports only.
- Some POS systems may need a custom payment type (example: “TarroPay”) to record phone-paid (CC) orders without double-charging.
*Best if you want one report and have lower phone volume or prefer everything in the POS.
Option 2: Hybrid by payment type (recommended default)
- Cash pickup orders: take cash, mark paid in Tarro, no POS entry.
- Credit card pickup orders: enter an open item in POS, run the card, then update Tarro to “credit card.”
- End of day, cash drawer = POS cash + Tarro pickup cash. (Credit card deposits are split between POS deposits and Tarro payouts.)
*Best if you want less staff work and minimal setup. This is the safest default for most restaurants.
Not today. Tarro works alongside these apps, and our delivery and marketing tools help shift more orders to your direct business so you can avoid high third-party commissions.
Tarro takes card payments over the phone and deposits the funds into your bank account. We match your in-store card rate, and you can choose to pass the fee to the customer. Payouts, minus Tarro estimated fees, are sent via ACH within two business days of the sale.
We withhold a set % from each credit card order as an estimate of Tarro fees for that day. At the end of the month, we “true up” to match your actual Tarro fees, and adjust the withholding rate as needed going forward.
For cash-only restaurants, we send a monthly invoice (typically around the 2nd or 9th of the month), and payment is due shortly after (generally within about a week).
Any end-of-month true-up payout is sent directly to the restaurant’s bank account (direct deposit). If Tarro owes the restaurant, payout happens by the 15th of the month.
You keep your existing phone number and you own all customer data. In the Tarro App, you can see customer details, view reports and invoices, mark items as out of stock, block delivery addresses, and adjust other settings in a few taps.
We’ll need your PDF menu, your current credit card processing rate, your preference on whether you want to pass credit card fees to customers, a time for a kickoff call, and a target go-live date. We can typically go live 7–10 days after kickoff.
After you sign up, we schedule a 1 to 2 hour kickoff call to review your menu, prices, ingredients, and key rules. We load everything into Tarro so our pizza specialists, with AI as their co-pilot, can take accurate orders from day one. We’ll then work with you to install the printers and call routing device, test everything, and make sure you are fully up and running. Most locations go live about 7-10 days after signing.
In most shops, Tarro’s costs are covered by reducing front desk, phone, and driver staff hours. On top of that, we typically see sales increase 10–20% by extending delivery, upselling, capturing missed calls, and running SMS marketing.
We are offering a free trial, so you can see the impact before committing. If Tarro is not a fit, you can cancel anytime at no cost. There are no long-term obligations.
